(More customer reviews)I bought this pool for my boys last year and they love it, I don't. It's just to much work. This thing has to be tended every day. Let's start with the filters, they have to be changed about every other day, every once in a while you can get 3 days out of one but not often. The filters cost anywhere from $6 to $9 a piece depending on where you can find them. I rinse mine out and reuse them because I can't afford 3 filters a week for 3 or 4 months out of the year. Rinsing them is a real pain and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. (I use the sprayer from the kitchen sink because you can't get the dead bugs out of the folds otherwise). You should put the cover on at night, but that takes 2 people so if you're by yourself good luck! You also need a good place to store your cover during the day when the pool is in use. If you lay it on the ground and your lucky enough not to have it blow away, make sure you you shake it off good (another 2 person job) or else you will just end up installing all the bugs from your lawn into your pool.
I had several of the v shaped clips that attach the posts to the t-sections break on me last year at the end of the season, you can order replacements from the Intex web site but if your in a hurry your in trouble. It took over a month to receive my order. I also noticed last year during tear down that the joint where the T sections are welded were starting to rust. This year after filling the pool I noticed that one of the T sections had broken at the weld. You can't replace it after the pool is full, it has to be drained to fix the problem so I just slapped some JB Weld on it and ordered a couple more T sections so that I would have them for next year.
Once my pool was full this year I found 3 different leaks, 2 were pinhole size, undetectable by a visual inspection, I only found them because there was water squirting out the side. The other is on the bottom somewhere but I have no idea where. It's a slow leak so I am just going to leave it for this year because the alternative, (draining the pool, 6000 gallons, and turning it upside down for an inch by inch inspection) is out of the question. In case your wondering I was careful when I took it down last year, so I can't figure out how I managed to put three holes in it.
Chances are I am going to have to buy a new liner for next year, which is almost as expensive as buying a new pool, so right now it's all up in the air. $450 every 2 years for a pool is a bit excessive, but my boys get so much enjoyment out of this thing that I will probably buy another one. It won't be an Intex though you can bet on that!
